The drains are older than the people worrying about them.

Westbrook was laid out in the 1980s and early 90s around the Westbrook Centre, and it is the part of west Warrington where extensions have done the most damage. The estates were built with plastic runs at sensible depths under lawns; thirty-five years of conservatories, garden rooms, wider driveways and rear extensions have gone over the top of a good number of them. The pattern is consistent enough to predict: a drain behaves perfectly for two decades, an extension goes on, and within a couple of years it starts backing up. Building Control should have caught it at the time. Often nobody looked.

Could my extension have damaged the drain underneath it?
It is the single commonest cause we find in Westbrook. A pipe that was fine under a lawn is a different thing under a foundation, and if it was not properly bridged or diverted it will deform. The camera shows the exact point and depth, and whether the damage is repairable in situ.
Is the drain mine or United Utilities'?
Most drains serving a single property — up to the point where they join the public sewer — are your responsibility. The public sewer is United Utilities'. We identify the boundary during the survey so you know exactly where your liability ends.
How long does it take?
